Model SEP5 Sepshear
The sepshear cuts only the aluminum or copper of bare ACSR cable.
To start the operator must separate a short length 12” (30cm) or less of the cables outer layer. The outer layer is then rewrapped so it will fit into the outer (larger) hole in cylinder. The steel or combined center core is inserted into the center (smaller) hole. The operator must now determine the separating direction of the cable and set the motor switch to forward or reverse as needed. The sepshear will now automatically separate and cut the outer layer of the cable as the operator hand feeds it through.
NOTE: ASCR cable with multiple layers around the steel center must go through the start and feed process for each layer.
Motor Information - 110/220 VAC, 50/60 rpm, 1/2 hp gear motor.
Cable Diameter Restrictions - The center core diameter after outer layer has been unwrapped must be less than 7/8” (22mm). The outer layer diameter to be cut must be less than 1-1/8” (28mm).
Cut lengths - The aluminum or copper outer layers of ACSR cable is cut into lengths ranging from approximately 4” (10cm) to 12” (30 cm).
Important: The actual length of cut is the outer layers wrap around the center core.
